Dk tanking... 8 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 1
So yesterday afternoon i tanked on my DK for the first time (i hope there is more opportunity to do so.

I held threat decently, i didnt have any major complaints, but it didnt feel like I was keeping the rotation down as well as I could.

I was running in and dropping D&D and then using howling blast to just solidify the mobs aggro on me.

I had read on EJ that you shouldnt use DG all the time so I only used it while doing single mobs.

Other than those i was basically doing what i normally do and I keep up the plagues.

my rotation (after the initial D&D, HB, or DG) looks like this:
IT, PS, BS, rinse repeat (changing targets as I went), I would use HB with multiples but i didnt use D&D again after the initial pull.

Please give me critiques as you see fit!

(Here is the spec that I was using: http://www.wowarmory.com/talent-calc.xml?cid=6& tal=100000000000000000000000000032005051352003012300033101351110000000 0000000000000000000000)

Thanks in advance!

I haven't tanked as frost in a while, but from what I remember that sounds about right... D&D is your highest threat move ever, so if there's any question about holding aggro you want to use it whenever it's off cooldown, even vs single targets.

Funny thing about D&D, it's also useful as a dps move in aoe situations, though for dps you want to spread your diseases around first, at least for unholy.

I used to use the 100% crit skill + HB if I needed snap aggro on a group of mobs, otherwise you want your frost fever spread around first, to get that bonus frost damage, if I remember right you have to get used to using blood tap, as dnd + plague strike + icy touch + pestilence uses up all your runes on the pull so you'll need to tap to get that extra rune to get HB out earlier (unless you get the free hb proc, forgetting the name).

Death grip I usually either save for an extra taunt, or to pull a caster in close... since it's off the gcd, you can drop D&D, and pull the first kill target/caster in instantly, and the rest of the pack should run in towards you and into the D&D. That way trigger happy dps won't pull the first target off of you for at least the first few seconds, giving time to place diseases, pestilence them around once the rest of the pack gets there, and then howling blast/blood boil/Strike willy nilly to get the threat flowing in.
